5 Days Uganda And Rwanda Gorilla Safari
The thrill of spending time and observing the gorillas is a rare, moving, awesome and the most intimate adventure.
Day 1: Transfer to Rwanda
This will depend on your arrival details. If you fly in from Kigali our driver guide will pick you from Kigali International air port and transfer you to your Hotel.
If you are in Uganda you will be transferred from Kampala to and head south-West to Rwanda. From Kampala you will drive southwards making a stopover at the Equator for an informative presentation as well as photographic opportunity. Your drive will take you through Uganda rolling green hills through the highlands, also known as the ‘Switzerland of Uganda’. Your road will then head even higher to where you can see the triangular peaks of the Virunga volcanoes of Rwanda and the Congo.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Rwanda
Early morning, you will enter the Gorilla sanctuary of Parc National des Volcans, the rain tropical forest covering the hills surrounding Virunga Volcanoes. The time taken and the terrain vary according to the movements of these marvelous primates. The thrill of spending time and observing the gorillas is a rare, moving, awesome and the most intimate adventure.
In the afternoon, relax at the camp or go for a Village walk go on walks in villages surrounding the park and interact with local people. Make an optional visit to Ruhengeri Market, providing you with an opportunity to explore and buy local produce and Rwandan fabrics. Returning to the Camp/lodge in the evening.Dinner and over night at Overnight at the Lodge.
Day 3: Depart For Bwindi
After breakfast, leave for Kisoro or Kabale depending on your tracking group. Stroll through the beautiful country side of Rwanda. Have lunch en route then arrive in the late afternoon. Dinner and over night at Engagi Lodge/Gorilla Resort camp/ Buhoma Homestead/ L. Kitandara Camp/ Buhoma Community Bandas/ Nkuringo safari Lodge/ Virunga Lodge .
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking
A trek though one of Africa’s most ancient rainforest, in search of the endangered mountain gorilla, ranks among the world’s premier wildlife encounters.
Take early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters for briefing before you move along the park trails tracking the gorillas. After the briefing from the authorities of the park, set off for the trekking into the rain tropical forest covering the hills surrounding Virunga Volcanoes. Gorilla tracking is a captivating and unforgettable experience which more than repays the effort needed to reach Bwindi and to trek through the forest.
The walk will be informative providing information about the gorillas and other primates. Make sure you carry with you packed lunch and water. Remember you need long pair of trousers and jungle boots since gorilla trekking involves walking up steep densely forested hills before finally coming across the endangered gorillas in the dense tropical vegetation.
The time taken to encounter these peaceful primates is unpredictable. Nevertheless, on encounter, one may be forced to say, it is stunning. After tracking you may decide to take a community guided walk that visits rural homesteads, blacksmith, traditional healers and brewers. This is an ideal village walk to see how Ugandans live. Return to your lodge for Dinner and Overnight.
Day 5: Bwindi to Kampala
After breakfast, we will depart to Kampala arriving in the late evening.
